Capabilities & Specifications

Vertically integrated manufacturing, in-house mold making, a proprietary thermoset formula and in-house testing — the reasons specifiers trust our surfaces in the most demanding labs.

Our process

How a solid epoxy surface is made

Every top starts as raw material and ends as a single, continuous slab — no laminates, no coatings, no seams that can fail.

Precise formulation

A proprietary blend of raw materials and epoxy resin is measured and mixed to exacting ratios.

Thermoset reaction

The material reacts in a carefully monitored thermal environment until the target temperature and timing are reached.

Controlled cooling

Cast flat and cooled under control, the result is a dense, non-porous solid all the way through.

Fabrication & finishing

Slabs are cut, edged and finished — using molds we make in-house — into the final non-glare matte top.

What sets us apart

In-house mold manufacturing

The ability to machine and maintain our own molds places American Epoxy Scientific at the top in epoxy-resin manufacturing. Molds for frequently ordered fume hood tops or specialty items are created for our customers without the delay and expense of using a separate specialty vendor.

Our machine shop runs two 5-axis CNC routers, letting us make many specialty pieces in-house, and we're fortunate to have talented welders and machinists on staff to build and maintain that tooling. Fume hood, slab and sink molds are created in our factory to accommodate specialty edges and to pour high-volume pieces more efficiently.

Every mold is constantly maintained and cleaned so that finished pieces are defect-free and carry the proper matte finish.

Tested & certified

SEFA 3 chemical & heat resistance

Our epoxy resin products pass the stringent SEFA 3 specification for chemical and heat resistance — the laboratory industry's benchmark standard. We test our raw materials and processes in-house on a regular basis to ensure every batch meets our exacting standards.

Independent and in-house chemical test results, color charts and full submittal documentation are available on our Documents page or on request.
